Poppy's Origin Story: The Making of Our Dragon Mascot
Every great studio needs a great mascot, and ours is Poppy the Dragon — a friendly, curious, slightly clumsy dragon who loves to explore and learn. Here's how Poppy came to life.
The First Sketch
Poppy started as a quick doodle on a napkin during a team brainstorm. We wanted a character that felt approachable, magical, and just a little bit silly. The first sketch showed a small purple dragon with oversized eyes and a crooked smile — and we knew immediately that was the one.
Finding Poppy's Personality
Poppy isn't a fierce, fire-breathing dragon. Poppy is the dragon who trips over their own tail, sneezes sparkles instead of fire, and is endlessly fascinated by everything they see. We wanted children to see themselves in Poppy — curious, imperfect, and wonderfully unique.
From Sketch to Screen
Our illustration team refined Poppy through dozens of iterations, testing different expressions, poses, and colour palettes. The final design uses soft purples and warm golds that match our brand colours, with big expressive eyes that convey emotion even without words.
Poppy Today
Today, Poppy appears across our entire platform — in the Dream Machine stories, the Creation Kit tutorials, and soon in our animated series. Poppy isn't just a mascot; Poppy is a friend to every child who visits Sparkle Tree Studio.
